Two days after I wrote the latest Blog in regards to the poor woman sliced in a robbery in Birkdale, guess what – another attack. And people think it will “never happen to them” and then it does.
This is one of the reasons I love to speak on the subject of personal defense, safety and security. Because it can and does happen to everyone at some time. I’d love it if more of the bad guys came off the worse of their schemes than often happens, but until people start learning about how they should become more vigilant and take responsibility for their own safety, there’s little if any chance of this happening!

HUNTERSVILLE – A man was slashed and robbed Saturday, Dec. 13, outside his Townley Road home in the Birkdale community, according to a Huntersville Police Department news release.
The man told police someone knocked on his door around 8:30 p.m., and when he answered the door, a young man struck him in the head with a blunt object and demanded the homeowner’s money, the release said.
When the homeowner said he didn’t have any cash, the suspect pulled a knife and began swinging it, cutting the man several times. The suspect ran away, and emergency workers took the homeowner to Presbyterian Hospital-Huntersville. He was treated and released.
The victim described the robber as a 16- to 20-year-old white man, about 6 feet tall, wearing blue jeans, a dark-colored long-sleeve T-shirt, white tennis shoes and a black hat with a diamond-style symbol.
Anyone with information about the case should contact Capt. Michael Kee or the on-duty watch commander at 704-875-6542.
North Meck Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. To make an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers, call 704-896-7867.
This is the second robbery in two weeks in the Birkdale development.
A woman told police a man robbed her Dec. 5 in a parking deck. The suspect pulled a knife and demanded cash before cutting the woman. She was treated at the scene and released.
Police are investigating the incidents separately, Kee said, and due to several differences in the style of attacks, police due not currently believe they are related.
