So what is the purpose of a Keynote Speech?
Typically, the keynote speaker will launch, or sometimes end, a succession of presentations by other talented public speakers, in order to bring the organizer’s theme to life.
This responsibility demands high energy, humor, fun, and, of course, an inspirational message that will create a sense of excitement for your event!
Three of the most commonly requested themes for corporate events revolve around the following:
- Morale – their individual ability to maintain a positive outlook.
- Perseverance – keeping the company moving forward during difficult times.
- Survival – accomplishing more than just surviving and making it through.
These are all great topics – but they will fall flat if your company group isn’t even listening to start with!
I’m originally from England, but I’ve lived here so long I now sound more Aussie than Brit - that is unless your presentation falls on a Friday when I will sound more Irish than Aussie…hahaha.
Along with my accent, add in the challenges of transitioning careers from professional dancer to Royal Marine Commando! Or my tales of being chased by an elephant on the plains of Africa; even surviving a headlong sprint into a cast iron lamp post in central London; you’ll begin to see where the humor, fun and energy start to take shape!
"This is your event – make sure it starts, or finishes on the right foot. I will engage your audience from the word GO!"
Cheers, Terry.
Survival: It's only funny until someone gets hurt, then it's hilarious! Developing your survivor’s mindset…
...and surviving the challenges of life, business and leadership.
What is a survivor’s mindset? Is it something in particular or something arbitrary and vague?
More importantly, do you own any of this commodity already? Maybe you have a limited supply and would benefit greatly from knowing how to increase your holdings? Or is it a case of you have whatever you were blessed with via genetics and hereditary inheritance and nothing more?
If you don’t have any of it, or a limited supply of the resource, does that mean you’re destined for further calamity in a disaster or tough economic times?
Not necessarily – but it does mean people might want some distance between themselves and you next time you are on a doomed flight, or working together in a struggling business….especially if you are supposed to be their leader!
So, are you their leader? I’m not just talking about your “title”. In a group of your peers do they naturally look to you before answering questions, possibly taking their cue from you and how you might respond to that question?
Have you ever heard the term counter-factual thinking? Why is this skill one of your most powerful allies in a survival situation and business environment? This is not just for yourself, but for the people around you, too!
It is important because the same mental skills that would keep you, your friends and family alive in a true disaster, will also help guide your team through tough economic times as well – this is true whether you are their leader through title, natural abilities, or both.
That is what this presentation is all about – developing your mental capacity to survive…almost anything.
Self-defense and situational awareness: how it can benefit your whole team, especially your female employees.
At core, men are afraid women will laugh at them, while at core, women are afraid men will kill them. – Gavin De Becker, The Gift Of Fear.
Have you ever thought about how this sort of discrepancy between the sexes could be affecting your female employee’s ability to excel at their job?
The key to knowing who they should be, and should not be wary of, all comes down to reading people and distinguishing those people with good intentions from those with bad – and doing it quickly.
How will this help my sales team?
Your clients buy from people they like and confident sales people are more apt to behave like themselves, which hopefully will make them more likeable!! Haha
Sales people that can achieve their goals and work for someone that genuinely cares about their wellbeing, not just their earning potential, typically stay longer; resulting in reduced turnover and even more savings.
A better understanding of when you are most likely to be attacked will enable you the best chance of avoiding the conflict altogether; or at least afford you the opportunity to come out of the encounter in better shape than your assailant.
We will cover the best self-defense tool in the world, how to mentally get into the fight fast and what to hit first to make your shots count.
This way everyone wins, except the bad guys that is! |
